THE WATERTREK ASSOCIATION

Raising awareness, educating and acting to protect aquatic environments

Watertrek is an organization invested in raising awareness for the protection of water and aquatic ecosystems threatened by plastic pollution, global warming and toxic chemicals.

The organization combines storytelling (creative content production such as films and animations), sports (paddle-boarding) and science (citizen and participatory sciences) to get back in touch with nature. It offers a fun, embodied approach to environmental education concerning our focus areas of zero-waste, raising awareness and reconnection.

Creativity and movement are the driving forces within Watertrek, inspiring people to shift their perspective and take action.

« I am deeply convinced that the current ecological state of our planet is the result of a profound androcentric alteration and manipulation of our relationship to nature, typical of the Anthropocene. This was the impetus for my desire to explore new ways of considering this connection to nature - reliance - by combining storytelling, the imagination, physical experience, and adventure. This is the heart of Watertrek. »
Séverine Vasselin, actress, environmentalist, co-founder
« Watertrek invites us to ‘go with the flow,’ to let ourselves fall in love with water again while actively engaging with it –riverbanks, beaches, the high seas… A heart-body-mind involvement in the fluidity of the feminine energy of water imparted by its founder »
Pascal d'Erm, ambassador & author

SUP & SCIENCE PARTICIPATIVE

Watertrek selects the citizen science protocols developed by partner organizations which can be used from a stand-up paddle board or by hikes along the water. Our efforts are focused on indicators which allow the furthering of knowledge related to plastic pollution, the effects of global warming and the presence of toxic chemicals in water. They also allow us to expand our data on platforms developed by the scientific community and to guide institutional efforts.
