Séverine Vasselin - a neurodivergent actress and author - founded the Watertrek association in 2013 after practicing stand-up paddleboarding for the first time on the Côte Bleue near Marseille.

“This experience was a true revelation: standing on the water, in a physical posture far removed from the land that requires balance and presence, my perspective shifted instantly.

I am deeply convinced that the current ecological crisis is the result of a profound alteration - rooted in anthropocentric and dominant ways of thinking - of our relationship with nature in all its forms: women, racialized communities, children, and other species alike. It reflects our inner divisions and disconnection. From this conviction grew my desire to explore new ways of cultivating these connections, of fostering a deeper sense of interconnected to ourself, others, and the living world, by weaving together imagination, embodied experience, felt perception and creativity. This is how Watertrek became a space for exploring these interdependencies. At the heart of this approach lies care and respect - values that are essentiel to personal health and that of our ecosystems. At Watertrek, ecology and psychology are closely intertwined."
