AUGUST-SEPTEMBER 2026: CELEBRATING THE 170TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GREENHOUSE EFFECT
We will celebrate at the end of August 2026 the 170th anniversary of the discovery of the greenhouse effect: in 1856, American scientist Eunice Foote discovered the principle of climate warming through her experiments in her greenhouse. Silenced, overshadowed, and forgotten by history, let us pay tribute to this talented and committed woman, who was also an abolitionist and co-author of the First Female Rights Convention of Seneca Falls.
The Watertrek association is making its 7-minute short film L’Exposée available, and invites you to create a local event based on it (conferences, panels, exhibitions), around the themes of your choice (climate, scientific research, the place of women, etc...). We have an educational kit available upon request at talent@watertrek.org, which will allow you to organise your event easily and join this commemorative movement.
